November is a Great Month to Have a Birthday!

Cami and I are blessed enough to have birthdays that kick off the end of the year holiday season-- two days apart from each other no less! To kick off 'Birthday Season' this year, my sweet visiting teacher- Alison Whitney, brought me these delicious chocolate cupcakes that had york peppermint patties in them. Her sweet daughter got the recepie from the Martha Stewart Cupcake Book, and decided to share with me for my birthday!
It was a scrumptious way to kick off my birthday!

We celebrated my birthday on Sunday November 22. I got to pick dinner-- and we had Grandma LeSueur's Red Chicken and her broccoli salad with homemade scalloped potatoes, Lion House rolls with honey butter, and a fruit pizza for dessert!

Goodness, look at all those candles!

Rome is burning...

Cam's birthday was Wednesday November 25, so we gave her her presents after Thanksgiving dinner and we had her ooy gooey chocolatey birthday cake for dessert Sunday November 29...

It was delicioso!

Two of my new favorites!

Look at those little 'toofers'!

Simply amazing. So darling. Completely wonderful.

White Friday

The day after Thanksgiving was White Friday instead of a black one when our good friends Luke and Mary got married in the Dallas Temple at 12:30 in the afternoon.
These two love birds met down in Waco where Mary grew up, and Luke is in Law school at Baylor University. I first met them when Mary threw a birthday party for Luke last fall. I knew they were going to be together for a long time, even last year!

Luke proposed on the 22 of July... and Mary is so awesome-- she made all their wedding plans happen in four months! Might I add, she looked beautiful :)

Lance and I got to watch Mary's niece while all her family was in the sealing ceremony. Blake is six months and has the cutest red hair! We were so glad to be involved in a small part of their union!

Aren't they darling!? I only managed to get these two pictures before my camera died (poor planning on my part) but believe me, she made a gorgeous bride, and he couldn't have looked any more in love!

Congratulations Luke and Mary-- We wish you all the best!! <3

Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving Delights

On Thanksgiving Day we’re thankful for
Our blessings all year through,
For family we dearly love,
For good friends, old and new.
For sun to light and warm our days,
For stars that glow at night,
For trees of green and skies of blue,
And puffy clouds of white.
We’re grateful for our eyes that see
The beauty all around,
For arms to hug, and legs to walk,
And ears to hear each sound.
The list of all we’re grateful for
Would fill a great big book;
Our thankful hearts find new delights
Everywhere we look!
By Joanna Fuchs

I really was rather lame this year as far as pictures go, but despite the lack of photographical doccumentation, Thanksgiving 2009 was a huge hit and a delightful success!

This year, Thanksgiving began for me on Wednesday November 25th when Lance and I went over to Grandma Clark's for his dad's family's Thanksgiving celebration! Lance was most looking forward to Grandma's sweet potatoes topped with marshmallows... Unfortunately, when she was pulling the dish out of the oven to top it with the fluffy white treats, the dish fell onto the tile floor and shattered. Sweet potatoes were everywhere! Lance and his dad were both heartbroken!

When Aunt Johnny, John, Kim, Chandler, and Kristi arrived, the kids ran off with Sarah and Stephanie to play while Sheryl, Kim, Belva, Aunt Johnny, and I finished gathering everything for dinner, then John said the prayer, and we dug in! I brought a spinach salad with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, candied pecans, and poppy seed dressing- I think everyone really liked it! My favorite, though, was the bruschetta Kristi made!

The night progressed with some rousing games of JINGO where Lance and I, combined, won ten dollars in quarters! Then we played Disney Scene It... I pretty much rocked it-- me and the preteen girls!

It was a wonderful night that wrapped up with hugs and goodbyes 'till Christmas time!

The Thanksgiving holiday progressed when we went to Mamaw and Granddad Sublett's for a turkey day lunch Thursday morning. Everyone was there-- Neva and Leonard, Tony and Lori, Rhonda, Bennett, Jake and Haley, and Sharon! I brought the relish tray... This family sure does love their green and black olives and baby gerkin pickles! Lori made her chocolate cream pie and coconut cream pie. Because Cam hates coconut, we never have it... So it was really was a treat to have such a delicious homemade coconut cream pie!

I also really enjoyed hearing Leonard's war stories! He was a US Navy Communications Technician in Japan, and my grandpa Jones was a US Navy Communications Officer-- they both had similar stories, and it was really fun to hear them from someone Lance admires so much!

After lunch, we headed over to my house for my family's thanksgiving dinner! I couldn't wait for my mama's yamstown sweet potatoes with the sugar crumble on top. We also had Lion House Rolls, Green bean Casserole, Garlic mashed potatoes, two fried turkeys, and Lance's new favorite- homemade Cranberry salad!

The rolls and the cranberry salad

My mama put together this beautiful flower/cranberry arrangement

We were thrilled to have Grandma Jones and Grandma LeSueur with us this year!

Here I am with two of my favorite boys!

Two of my favorite boys got a little too close over the break... uh oh!

And of course, Audrey entertained everyone with her 'grown up' Thanksgiving antics!
Here she is, reading to Grandma LeSueur

And with her new car that becomes a means of her walking when it's flipped up. Watch out, mom and dad... She's going to be walking soon, sans push-car!

Another notable event of Thanksgiving was the Lenox covered vegetable dish Mom got as an early Christmas present from the grandmas, Cam and Kevin, Daddy, Trevor, and me. She's wanted this piece that matches the rest of her china forever... She loves it!

Thanksgiving was amazing. Lots of friends, food, family, and memories-- I sure am going to miss all these traditions next year...

Team Edward... Most Definitely

The best part about turning 22?

Going to see Twilight with all the hormone-raging highschoolers and acting just like them when Edward came on screen...

Lance is wonderful-- and for my birthday, he took me to Studio Movie Grill in Lewisville where we met up with Michelle and Patrick for a little birthday dinner/movie action!

We had so much fun-- and Michelle and I were really thankful we have such wonderful men who will not just sit through a chick-flick... but actually ENJOY it!

Favorite Quote from New Moon:
Edward Cullen: Happy birthday
Bella Swan: Don't annoy me.
Edward Cullen: Bella your birth is definitely something to celebrate.
Bella Swan: But my aging is not.

There was one of the trucks there that they actually used for filming the movie! Photo-op!

Thanks for kicking off my birthday in a spectacular manor everyone!

Tomorrow I get to go through the temple... CAN'T WAIT :)

Seven Days

My sister's birthday is officially one week from today... and just to be clear, the grandmas are here to celebrate her birth too!
Here's a list of seven (one for each day) reasons why I love her... A birthday countdown, if you will:
  1. Someone had to be the first child in our family, and I think she's handled the task quite beautifully-- better than Trevor or I would have!
  2. She has overcome a lot of trials, and seeing her become a happier stronger person is inspiring to me.
  3. Cam is so great at crafts-- a lot of the time her crafty endeavors turn out better than mine because she actually follows the directions!
  4. Watching her be in the world but not of the world while we were growing up (and now) really set a good example for little Chelsea to follow.
  5. We're really good at scheming together... especially when we're teaming up against Trevor!
  6. She knows everything.
  7. When we were little and other kids were mean to me, my sister was always there to stand up for me and push their bikes down a ravine.
I love you, Cam... Thanks for being you! :)

An Ode to Texas Living

Here it is, November 17th, and we just turned the heater on for the first time this fall/winter. With 61* as our high and 43* as our low today, we realize we're very fortunate-- and that it isn't even actually cold-- especially when we hear our Utah friends have been playing in the snow since Saturday! Ahh, God bless Texas... This is my kind of weather!

In other news, both Grandma Jones and Grandma LeSueur are coming to visit tomorrow! They'll be here when I go through the temple on Saturday, for my birthday on Monday, Thanksgiving on Thursday, and we get to have them with us 'till the 3rd of December! I couldn't be more thrilled!!

This was taken last thanksgiving just after we saw "The Nutcracker" ballet at the Majestic Theatre in downtown Dallas!

Can't wait for this year's adventures! :)

Meet the Taylors...

...I mean meet the Jensens! Here they all are sporting their Chuck Taylor tennis shoes, or more affectionately known as 'Chuckie T's'... I guess the apple really doesn't fall far from the tree-- especially when that tree is buying your footwear!

Isn't that little apple just *darling*?!

Drumroll please....

soundboard.com

The Envelope that came yesterday...

Dear Sister LeSueur,

"You are assigned to labor in the Ohio Columbus Mission..." And I report to Provo's MTC on January 27, 2010!

So... where in Ohio? Well, here's a map-- my area is the shaded grey area!

And the winner of the guessing game is...
Kevin Scott Jensen who guessed Charleston, West Virginia which is just east of where I'll be!

We celebrated with breakfast that consisted of:
delicious fruit, yogurt, and granola parfaits

A scrumptious breakfast casserole

and ooey-gooey croissants!

Great morning... I can't wait to serve the Lord and the people in Ohio. Now, who knows where I can buy a parka-- cuz this is the first picture that popped up when I googled Columbus, Ohio:

So... pray for a warm winter? :)

Where in the world?

It's here! I got my mission call from Salt Lake today at 12:20 in the mail, and I'll be opening it tomorrow morning around 8:00 am (ish) :)

SO...
Where in the world do you think I'll be going? So, prayerfully consider, and leave a comment with your three (3) guesses, and I'll keep you posted!
